Haiti, or more officially known as the Republic of Haiti, occupies the western three-eighths of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. Haiti is 10,714 sq. miles and has a population of 10.8 million people, making it the most populous country in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the second-most populous nation in the Caribbean as a whole.

This French-speaking country is the most mountainous country in the Caribbean. Sadly the earthquake that affected Haiti in 2010 set the country back significantly in terms of its economic standing. Nonetheless, the country does have a viable tourism industry and equally rich history. There is also the potential for future agricultural exports to boost the country’s economy.
